No. In hindsight, Germany lost the war. If the little cliques that ruled Imperial Germany had had even 1 Pennie worth of realism and common sense they would have slammed the breaks on Austria-Hungary in June-July 1914. Instead, the German General Staff wanted a jolly little war. What they got was an unwinnable war that was ruinous for Germany and Europe. To cap it all, when Germany was defeated they made parliamentarians carry the can for the consequences!

No, or they would have won it.

Germany would almost certainly have won The Great War had they not been stopped by the British Expeditionary Force in the battle of Ypres. When the battle ended only nine of th 84 British battalions were at or near half strength, 18 battalions had fewer than 100 men of all ranks, they should have had around 1000. German losses were also horrendous and if the had won the battle the Great War would have ended there. The Germans called it the massacre of the innocents
