Dred Scott v. Sandford : 1857 .
I believe that this case is against the constitution and is racist and should not be allowed. For one reason say we were to go to war with England i bet that they wouldn't throw every white person in a camp.
It was not the (expected) ruling against Scott's freedom that caused the controversy. It was the reason given - that they claimed slavery was protected by the Constitution. If taken literally, this would invalidate all of the compromises between North and South, and make slavery legal in any state of the Union.
Dred Scott vs.Sanford
Scott Case's birth name is Jeffrey Scott Case.
Scott Case is 6' 1".
Scott's previous master had taken him on to free soil for some years before returning to slave country. If Scott had applied for his freedom while on free soil, it would have been granted automatically, but for some reason he didn't. He applied when he was back in slave coutnry. The local judges had never dealt with this situation before, and that is why the case reached the Supreme Court.
