What communist leader came to power in Cuba and became an ally of the USSR?

i think it was fidel castro. after the bay of pigs invasion he was easily persuaded to ally himself with the USSR.

What happened at the Bay of Pigs?

AnswerAn invasion Wrong. A failed invasion, and an embarassment to the Kennedy presidential campaign.Actually, the Bay of Pigs was a project commenced by President Eisenhower where the CIA trained 1500 anti-Castro Cuban exiles for a Cuban invasion and takeover. Confident that the rebels would succeed, President Kennedy sent them in on April 17, 1961 to invade from the south at La Bahia de Cochinos, or the Bay of Pigs.

What was the name of the Cuban leader during the 60's?

The Cuban leader during the 1960s was Fidel Castro. He came to power after the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and established a socialist state. Castro's leadership was marked by significant reforms and tensions with the United States, particularly during events like the Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. His influence shaped Cuba's political landscape for decades.

How did Cuba almost cause a nuclear was between the soviet union and the US?

The Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1962, The Soviet Union, in collaboration with Fidel Castro, began building nuclear missiles on the Island of Cuba. Because the Soviets technology at the time limited their nuclear missiles range, they felt that having missiles in Cuba was the only way of defending against an attack by the United States, whose nuclear arsenal could reach the Soviet Union at any time. Castro, after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, thought that another attack by the U.S was inevitable and agreed to the Soviet installations. President Kennedy imposed a quarantine on the island by surrounding it with naval vessels and ordered the missiles to be dismantled. Several tense days went by, and the world was on the brink of nuclear war. the worst day being October 27th when a U2 reconnaissance plane was shot down. On October 28th, The U.S and the Soviet Union came to an agreement. The missiles and bombers would be removed from Cuba, and the U.S agreed not to invade Cuba, thus ending the crisis.

Cuban missile crisis cause?

President Kennedy admitted to lack of missile gap unlike Eisenhower. He said that the US was way ahead of the Soviets in the developing missiles. This made Khrushchev (The Soviet leader) look bad. And this angers Cuba a lot especially, after our failed attempt with the Bay of Pigs. Castro starts to buddy up with the Soviets a lot more. Khrushchev doesn't want to see the US take Cuba down. So he offers to arm Castro with weapons. The US has the Soviet Union surrounded with missile sites and the Soviets wants at least one site near the US. If they could get Cuba they would have their "one place". A U2 planes discovered installation sites being built in Cuba by the soviets. Kennedy called together the National Security Council, DOD, etc. to discuss what to do with this. We came up with three options. 1)Invade Cuba-Bay of pigs was a failure. 2) Air Strike- were afraid if we did do that ,t hey would shoot our planes3) Leave it alone. No one was really satisfied with those three option so we decided to Quarantine AKA Blockade Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis scared everyone to death; we were on the verge of nuclear war. In 1963 the US and the Soviet Union Signed a nuclear Test Ban Treaty which banned the testing of atomic weapons. A hotline was also set up between Moscow and Washington D.C.
