The United States has a Presidential System of government. The president will serve 4 years. The congress is divided into two parties, but it really does not matter how many divisions there are. The congress seldom votes according to party lines. There is no place for a vote of no confidence. While congress could remove a president, it has never done so. India uses a Parliamentary System of government. It has a plethora of parties. Its representatives vote a party line. Its government may or may not serve fixed terms. A vote of no confidence brings an election. As a result, India has more elections and changes of government than the United States.

The United States does not allow tariffs between states. India does. As a result India has a lot fewer internal roads and far fewer major highways than the United States.

Communism never had the political strength in the United States that it gained in India. Henry Wallace, a Communist, became the Vice President of the United States in 1940, but he did it as a democrat. The Communists never ruled anywhere in the United States as they have in India. Instead, they helped labor unions get established. At that point union members became good capitalists and wanted their businesses to prosper and not be taken over by the government. They believed the government would run the businesses into the ground.

The people of the United States want a government that works but do not trust it!
