There is a S.A.S training area in Pontrilas Herefordshire which is located in England.

The SAS Regt trains throughout the UK, and all over the World.

SAS Selection and initial training takes place at its base in Herefordshire - an English county bordering Wales - and in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains of Wales, and the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Jungle training is conducted in Belize (Central America) and Brunei/ Malaysia; Mountain and Arctic training is most frequently done in Norway, but also in the Scottish Highlands, Greenland, the Rockies, Alaska, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland etc.. Desert/ Arid Environment training is done in Oman, and many other places such as Kenya, Australia, Arizona, Saudi Arabia etc.. A lot of advanced free-fall parachuting training occurs in France (Pau - the French Army parachute school) and the USA because weather conditions are more reliable than in the UK, and there's more space!

The SAS also trains extensively with the Royal Marines' Special Boat Service (both share a common initial Selection Course), especially at their base at Poole, Dorset, on the South coast of England. SAS snipers are trained at the Royal Marines' Sniper School at the Commando Training Centre, Lympston, Devon, SW England.

Territorial SAS units train in remote country nearest to their squadron locations: favourite areas include the Pennines - rugged, windswept hills running the length of central Northern England; the Derbyshire "Peak District"; moorland areas like Dartmoor and Exmoor, and the Cheviot Hills of the English/ Scottish border. The Scottish Highlands and Islands are also favoured locations, especially for "Combat Survival" (SERE) training.

Another favourite training location is "The Forest of Dean": a strange, ancient woodland area in SW England near to Wales - a creepy place in which it's easy to get lost. Excellent for navigation and route finding training, and also Escape and Evasion exercises.

So, yes, the SAS trains in England, and in Wales, Scotland, and anywhere else deemed appropriate/ useful. SAS soldiers train all over the World, and all of them engage in regular exchange training with similar units of friendly/ allied armies.

How do you connect SAS drives to a SAS controller in a xw8600 when the sata cables don't fit into the SAS drive connector?

To connect SAS drives to a SAS controller in an HP xw8600, you need to use the appropriate SAS cables, as SATA cables are incompatible with SAS connectors. Ensure that you have SAS breakout cables that have the correct connectors for both the SAS controller and the SAS drives. Connect the SAS drives to the breakout cable, and then attach the other end of the cable to the SAS controller. Make sure the drives are properly seated and the controller is configured to recognize them in the system BIOS.
