The term, "innocents" has been, up until the end of the Vietnam War, been the classification of women and children...and/or civilians in general. With the current 21st century "Global War on Terror"...coupled with "equal opportunity" & "political Correctness"; the old term of "innocents" (women & children or civilians in general) may or may not still apply. For the 20th century Vietnam War, civilian fatalities will go over 2 million.
?........the Vietnam war was a war between north and south Vietnam and America. America was trying to defend south Vietnam from the north invading and controling their territory. so America was on the side with south Vietnam
North Vietnam and South Vietnam. N. Vietnam wanted communism to take over, but S. Vietnam didn't. So on N. Vietnam's side were Russia and China, and a group of rebellious ppl called Vietcong. They were called the Communists. On S. Vietnam's side was the U.S. and SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, consists of Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, and The Philippines.)North against the South.
In 1955 Mr. Ngo Dinh Diem became president of South Vietnam.
The Vietnam war mattered because that was a time period when most countries in Asia were becoming more and more communist. normally, when a country becomes communist, the neighboring countries will also become communist. that is called the domino effect. North Vietnam not only wanted to spread communism, but completely annex South Vietnam. countries such as United States of America did not want that to happen. As you see, North Vietnam annexed South Vietnam because America could not fight anymore. the population was turning against them and could not fight an invisible enemy.
how come the united states did not invade north vietnam to end the war
the French.
The United States discontinued the draft at the end of the Vietnam War.
Vietnam is the country, and is located on the continent of Eurasia; just like the US is a country (the United States) and is located on the continent of North America.

Vietnam wasn't fighting anybody in 1964 because there was no country named Vietnam. There were two nations, one called North Vietnam and another called South Vietnam. Just like the states North Carolina and South Carolina or North Dakota and South Dakota in America...FOUR separate states! In 1964 North Vietnam became engaged in war with America; after the Tonkin Gulf naval battle(s) in August 1964.
The Laos people moved to the United States of America, because they helped the American's in the Vietnam war.
Ho Chi Minh wanted to add South Vietnam to North Vietnam. Over a number of years he built a series of roads and underground caves in preparation for his army to fight to conquer South Vietnam. Then the United States sent an army to prevent him from conquering South Vietnam. Eventually, the Americans decided they could not win and had no desire to continue to have solders killed so they left South Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh never hated America. Instead he wanted South Vietnam and America was in the way.
The American COLONIES belonged to Britain; America was the property of Great Britain. North or SOUTH Vietnam had no relationship to the US what so ever; SOUTH Vietnam just "happened" to be the next target of the communists. And America (United States) was an enemy of communism. When communists attacked; America responded (during the cold war).
If someone said, "I was in Indochina", you would most likely reply, "what part?" Meaning Cambodia, or Laos, or South Vietnam, North Vietnam, etc. Vietnam is to Indochina as Texas is to America (or Texas is to the United States). Example: "What part of the US are you from?" Reply: "Texas"
France,United states of america, and vietnam no other countries because noone knew about it exept france and the U.S.A
Military advisors first arrived in Vietnam in 1950. America started sending troops into Vietnam as early as 1960, but they took no military action until 1965. The United States was actively (militarily) involved in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1975.
To prepare for the United States invasion of Laos.
