Apart from being the first female Pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut through her administration and policies bought great wealth to Egypt. She avoided military conquest and focused on expanding Egypt's economy.

She reestablished trade relationships lost during the Hyksos occupation of the 15th - 17th dynasty. She opened trade relations with Lebanon,Crete,Syria,West & South Africa, Aswan and reopened the mines in Mt Sinai. Egyptians traded in Punt for gold, ivory, ebony, mhyrr, frankenscence and exotic animals.

She commissioned hundreds of building projects in the upper and lower Egypt. The greatest of which was her temple mortuary complex at Dier el Bahri, which later Pharoah's would choose to associate their complexes with, and become known as The Valley of the Kings.

Hatshepsut was not the first female Pharaoh this is a very common misconception, there were others before her.
