Haym Salomon was a key financier of the American Revolution, playing a crucial role in supporting the Continental Army during its struggle for independence. As a Jewish immigrant and a successful banker, he helped raise funds and secure loans that were vital for the war effort. Salomon's financial acumen and commitment to the revolutionary cause made him an essential figure in sustaining the fight against British rule. His contributions are often celebrated for their impact on the success of the American Revolution and the establishment of the United States.
He was responding to ambient Anti-Semitism in Post-Revolution America which held that Jews should not have rights in the new country because they did not help to create it. As a result, Haym Salomon defended his own contributions and those of other Jews to the American Revolution in order to justify their rights as free citizens. (Jews were not free citizens in most European countries.)
