For militarism North Korea is has a growing Military. And its growing FAST! It is making some people/countries worried.
(I THINK about 80% on this one) National loyalties became more important then the concerns of the people. but possibly competition for resources became more intense among some European nations. both of these are true.

Imperialism, nationalism and militarism were all political situations that European countries were dealing with. They were taking over each other's territories, building up their defenses and had people that were so loyal to their own nation they would do anythng for their own country. This is where the assination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand comes in. An extreme-nationalist, Gavrilo Princip shot him and his wife, Sophie. Everyone started blaming each other and a war resulted.
Nationalism was important because it was the reason why World War 1 started. If the Serb terrorists had not killed Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand Austria would have never declared war on Serbia. The reason why the Serb terrorists who were members of the Black Hand killed Franz Ferdinand was because they did not like an Austrian ruler ruling a Serb country thus making an act of nationalism. Imperialism and militarism made necessary the use of force to defend or secure national interests for the countries involved. Nationalism on the other hand was used to inspire the people to support their countries' involvement in the war.

The four long-term causes of war, often identified as militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism, collectively created a volatile environment. Militarism led to an arms race and a belief in the necessity of military solutions, while alliances entangled nations in obligations that could escalate conflicts. Imperialism intensified rivalries over colonial possessions, and nationalism fueled tensions as ethnic groups sought self-determination. Together, these factors fostered distrust and competition, making conflict more likely.
Nations making political and military alliances was an effect of militarism.
The four M.A.I.N causes of WWI are known to be Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. Militarism built up the armies in Europe, meaning more weapons to use and more soldiers to use them. Alliances dragged many countries into what would have otherwise been a mini-conflict between Austria and Serbia. Imperialism gave the combatants in Europe colonies all over the world that got involved making it a world war. And nationalism made everyone think their country was the best and made them want to fight. Different people blame different combinations of the four for causing the war.
Imperialism fueled competition among European powers as nations sought to expand their empires, leading to conflicts over territories and resources. Nationalism intensified these rivalries, as countries prioritized their national interests and ethnic groups sought self-determination. Militarism contributed by fostering an arms race and glorifying military power, making war seem a viable solution to disputes. Finally, the alliance system created a web of obligations that turned a regional conflict into a global war, as allied nations were drawn into the conflict following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
"Some politicians feel that a strong sense of nationalism is an important quality for any leader."
The verb form of "militarism" is "militarize." To militarize means to organize or equip for military use or to adopt a military approach in various aspects of society or governance. This term emphasizes the process of making something more military in nature or influence.
Nationalism is believing that your country that it is the best. It also is to be proud and take pride I your own country. Nationalism was one of the main long term causes as it also was to do with the murder of Ferdinand, which was the spark of the war. Militarism is the attempt to build up a strong and big army. The main countries competed (had and arm race) to get the biggest army, if you had a big army it showed that you had power. Germany and Britain were the main ones who competed to get the biggest army. This was a cause as it strengthened the belief that war was going to happen. This is because the countries wouldn't have built up their navy for no reason. This rivalry caused each country to carry on building there armies to defend them. This also links to nationalism, because by increasing the amy it shows you want authority. Also nationalism is making your country to look proud therefore this is all l inked.
Nationalism came about in Asia when the formation of the Indian National Congress in 1885 took place, and shortly after the Philippines gained independence from the Spanish, making them a U.S. colony.
