Actually, it was Austria-Hungary that had started it. The archduke of Austria-Hungary (Franz Ferdinand) and his wife went to Bosnia on Bosnia day, and they were mad, so the terrorist group called The Black Hand came from Serbia to "help" Bosnia by killing the archduke and his wife. So They died and blah, blah, blah, so the king of Austria-Hungary (archduke's dad) got mad and declared war on Serbia, which tagged in Russia (Allies with Serbia), then Germany, France, England, Italy, and after Italy dropped out before WW1, Turkey came in to help. So that is actually how it all started!

Hope it helped :)
