Actor Charles Sheen is portraying Mr. Stone. Actor Johnny Depp who portrays Private Learner (a Vietnamese speaking grunt) is the platoon's translater. Depp's role had to be edited to the extreme, as his charactor was stealing Charlie Sheen's thunder in portions of the film.
