Most of the ordinance used in Iraq since 2003 has been PGM's (Precision Guided Munitions), by a ratio of about 2 to 1. Approximately 20,000 PGM devices used in 2003/2004; and approximately 10,000 non-smart weapons during the same time period. Although figures are still evolving, current usage appears to be under the approximate 80,000 tons expended during Operation Desert Storm in Jan/Feb 1991. But well exceed the 16 thousand tons expended by the allies in WW1, has quite a ways to go before matching the Korean War 600,000 ton expenditure mark; and most likely will never meet or exceed the WW2 1.6 million or Vietnam War 7 million tonnage numbers.
