A war with China is very unlikely in the next 25 years. China is one of the United States' biggest trading partners and a war would not benefit either. China and the US do not have anything worth fighting over. China will not go to war simply for Taiwan, The US will not go to war simply because of China's human rights policy, and there is too much trading going on between the two nations for either side to profit by attacking the other. The Soviet Union and the US were enemies for decades and they did not go to war. China and the US are not even enemies, they are pals who do a lot of business together, so of course they will not go to war.

At this point, it is easier for the 2 giants to do battle economically, competing for global economic power. There are too many economic interests for them to go to war. Although rhetoric against China was high in the 2012 Republican Primary, we have heard hardly a peep since.
