1.) Sun Tsu:

The author of The Art of War written between 544 and 596 BC, is enigmatic in terms of historical account and some suggest Sun Tsu or Sun Wu never existed. Whoever did exist that authored the book The Art of War is only relevant today in that that person is the author of a text that has profoundly influenced world events and continues to do so to this day.

2.) Socrates:

Considered to be the father of Western Philosophy he lived and taught between 469-399 BC. He is most noticeably remembered through the works of Plato, one of Socrates students. Their philosophies combined have influenced Western culture in their art, sciences and politics and their fundamental work is woven into the very fabric of Western thought.

3.) Jesus Christ:

On the opposite end of philosophical spectrum of Sun Tsu is another man who has been the subject of speculation on whether he actually existed, the Roman philosopher and chronicler of Jesus' time Tacitus, has Jesus written down as being executed as a political revolutionary in his history texts. The influence of Jesus and the New Testament that survives is every bit as noticeable as Sun Tsu's text and perhaps better known.

4.) Sir Isaac Newton:

In 1687 Newton published Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica and the world has never been the same since. In this book Newton described universal gravitation and the three laws of motion that laid the ground work for classical mechanics.

5.) Albert Einstein:

Born in 1879 this man rocked the world with his genius and is considered to be the most important person of the last century. Best known for his theory of relativity, he is responsible for over 300 scientific papers and is revered in the physics community.
