The pilgrims were mostly Quakers, also called Friends

Another Answer:

Were a group of people who became disenchanted with the way the Church of England was proceeding. They separated and went to Netherlands for about 10 years and decided to come to America in 1620 to settle in the Hudson Valley (Cape Cod, Mass.) which they thought was part of the Virginia settlement of 1607.

This group was originally called 'Old Comers' and only changed to 'saints and pilgrimes when an older manuscript from a Separatist Congregation leader, Willima Bradford called the these settlers who left Holland.

Pilgrims desired to change the Church of England from within while another more radical group called the Puritans wanted to fully separate from it. These were so 'radical' that they were asked to leave the Pilgrim settlement and went to Rhode Island and began their own.
