No, the USS New Orleans, Heavy Cruiser (CA-32) was not sunk at Pearl Harbor. The ship was docked at Pearl Harbor on the day of the attack but not damaged to any real extent. Several of her crew were wounded by bullets & bomb fragments. The ship was at the dockside for normal engine repairs, and was not able to move or run power to the AA guns & ammo hoists. The ship survived the Second World War despite receiving near fatal torpedo damage during the Battle of Tassafaronga on 30 November 1942. The ship served in the Pacific Ocean for the duration of the war, and was at Subic Bay, Philippines when the war ended in August 1945. She earned 17 Battle Stars and is among one of the most decorated ships of that war.
they would have hit new Orleans and gone up the river and reached Washington.d.c

American battleships were bombed at Pearl Harbor. The main target for the Japanese forces were the American aircraft carriers but luckly for the Americans the aircraft carriers were out doing training so Japanese forces hit the battleships, airplanes landed at the airbase in Pearl Harbor. Five battleships were sunk, three light cruisers, three destroyers, three smaller vessels, 188 aircrafts were destoried. 2,335 servicemen were killed, 68 civilians were killed, 1,178 were wounded. asalman88
It couldn't have been done without air power (a new weapon at sea/aircraft carriers).

Yes according to new evidence(declassified documents via the Freedom of Information Act), pearl harbor was set up by FDR to engage America in an unpopular war. Check out the link www.thenewamerican.com/history/american/574
All US battleships survived the war except for: 1. USS Oklahoma (sunk under tow to California) 2. USS Utah (converted training anti-aircraft ship-remains resting on the bottom of Pearl Harbor). 3. USS Arizona-still resting on the bottom of Pearl Harbor. The IJN battleship Nagato survived the war, but was sunk during the testing of the Atom Bomb in '46 (Operation Crossroads)...along with the USS Pennsylvania; USS Nevada; USS New York; USS Arkansa. Penn, Nevada, New York were highly radioactive after the bombs went off and were sunk at sea for target practice (a navy tradition-considered a "Viking Funeral" by some). Arkansas, however practically disintegrated due to her closeness to the atomic device. Nagato can be dove on by scuba divers in Bikini Lagoon. Of Britains KGV (King George V) battleships, four of them survived the war, only HMS Prince of Wales was lost; sunk by Japanese torpedo bombers three days after Pearl Harbor in 1941.
