Yes
Mary Queen of Scots was Elizabeth's first cousin once removed. Mary's grandmother was sister of Elizabeth's father Henry VIII. But they were not first cousins.
Elizabeth's first cousins were:
By her aunt Margaret Tudor:
James, Duke of Rothesay
Arthur, Duke of Rothesay
James V of Scotland (Mary Queen of Scot's father)
Alexander Stewart, Duke of Ross
Margaret Douglas, Countess of Lenno
By her aunt Mary Tudor:
Henry Brandon († 1522)
Frances Grey, Duchess of Suffolk
Eleanor Clifford, Countess of Cumberland
Henry Brandon, 1st Earl of Lincoln
By her aunt Mary Boleyn:
Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon
Catherine Carey, Lady Knollys
Anne Stafford
Edward Stafford
Elizabeth.
Her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen of England and Mary I's successor, wanted Queen Mary I, Queen of Scots, to be executed.
Elizabeth I was born in 1533. Mary Queen of Scots was born in 1542. So, Mary was 9 years younger.
If Mary Queen of Scots had killed Elizabeth - a highly unlikely action from her perceived personality - she would have most likely enjoyed a stint as English Queen if she managed to live a substantial amount of time after the assassination of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth I was threatened many times from Mary Queen of Scots and the people Mary ruled. They were cousins, so Elizabeth was unwilling to kill her despite the threats. After they continued, Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded for these threats on the country. This is why Elizabeth was never physically hurt because of Mary, because Mary was killed.
Elizabeth I aunt Margaret married Mary's grand father James IV of Scots.
Mary Queen of Scots was Elizabeth I's cousin.
Elizabeth.
No. Mary, Queen of Scots, was the daughter of Elizabeth I's first cousin.
Queen Elizabeth was older than Mary Queen of Scots who was the daughter of her cousin. Elizabeth was born 1533 and Mary 1542. Elizabeth also had a half-sister Mary (Bloody Mary).
Elizabeth I blamed Mary Queen of Scots (her cousin!) for plotting against her. Mary was excecuted.
Elizabeth I
she did
Her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen of England and Mary I's successor, wanted Queen Mary I, Queen of Scots, to be executed.
Queen Elizabeth the first ordered the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. Mary was a Catholic and Elizabeth was protestant. Mary was a threat to Elizabeth for that reason and also because she was too close to the throne. (this answer can be massively expanded on)
You are confused. Mary I of Scotland (Mary Queen of Scots) was the daughter of Elizabeth's cousin. Elizabeth's half-sister was Mary I of England (Bloody Mary). She obviously did not kill her as Elizabeth had a long and fruitful reign after Mary's death.
they have the same names? They were cousins? However it was Queen Elizabeth who was the virgin!
