Actually the US never formally joined any alliance in WWI. The US declared war (ninety three years ago today) on the Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire and their minor allies. The US fought alongside the Entente Powers - France and the United Kingdom. But the US went to war as an "associated power" of that alliance, and never became a member.

In a way yes, and in a way no. The United States joined the war on the side of the Triple Entente but never officially joined the Triple Entente.
