The Australian bushman's costume is a good one. Brown button up shirt, jeans or dark trousers, and an Aussie bushmans hat. You'd have to Google these to see the style but they are brown leather wide brimmed hats. Some of these hats would have corks hanging from strings all around as they used to swing them to keep flies off their faces - a common problem in the Aussie bush. This would be accompanied by a Drizabone coat in wet weather - a long, oiled leather coat, knee length usually.

You could carry a billy - a tin can with handle that they used to boil tea over a camp fire - still do actually! And a swag - a rolled up blanket, usually wrapped in tarpaulin but just a blanket rolled and tied with string would do for a costume. They slung these over their shoulder or horse. These clothes are still worn now by many aussies - minus the corks on the hat lol. In fact my 5 kids (we live in west aust) all have a bushies hat.
