Since the Vietnam War was fought by WWII veterans, these former WWII Lieutenants, Captains, Majors, etc. were now Colonels and Generals; and they maintained their WWII traditions of allowing GIs to return home with "war souvenirs." US servicemen were allowed to bring home war souvenirs such as the SKS rifle and the K54 pistol; however, the most common war souvenirs brought home were NVA pith helmets and belt buckles, as the firearms (SKS & K54) were more often than not picked up pretty fast on the battlefield, leaving pretty much just NVA helmets and bodies with their associated uniforms (belts, canteens, and the belt buckle).
Fully automatic weapons such as the RPDs (drum fed machinegun) and AK47s had to be turned in to the S-2 (Intelligence). All captured US weapons (and there were a lot them) such as .45s/M14s/M1s/M1 carbines/and even some old '03 bolt action Springfields COULD NOT be brought home as a war souvenir. Those to had to be turned in to the "2".
WWI, WWII, Vietnam war, collapse of the soviet union, I could go on and on.

The people leaving the Vietnam War on little boats faced numerous dangers. These included the risk of drowning due to overcrowding and poorly built vessels, the possibility of being attacked by pirates or armed groups, and the lack of food and water during their journeys. Additionally, they were often vulnerable to extreme weather conditions and were at risk of being intercepted and turned away by other countries.
YES
Life is not easy for anyone that is a refugee- including people that fled Vietnam during the invasion of South Vietnam by the Communists. They left behind everything they had, with only what they could carry. They were going to another land where they did not know the people or the language. Pretty scary, huh?
Well, people could use a book in history class but if you are an archaeologist then you study the artifacts and get information based on those artifacts.

During the Vietnam War, many artists protested the war in their art and music. This war was called the television war because it was then that the rest of the world could see what was going on during the war. The songs were anti-war and sang about the soldiers wanting to get out even if the war wasn't won.
If I could pick one word to described it, it would be "unrest."

President Johnson took the war to NORTH Vietnam with aerial warfare. We couldn't invade NORTH Vietnam (without consequences from the communist superpowers), but we could bomb it! We dropped more bombs on North Vietnam than we did in all of WW2! One must bear in mind, that a Vietnam War B-52 could carry 108 bombs. A WW2 bomber could only carry 17 bombs.
