The Nile River and the Tigris/Euphrates Rivers
All the people could use it for transportation ,bathing, cooking and hunting. well these are just some examples. The primary use of rivers in Southwest Asia and North Africa (the few that there are) was for agriculture and drinking. Without the rivers, these areas would be inhospitable since they are incredibly hot, dry, and arid.
Most of the population in Southwest Asia is located where there is water.
The soil of North Africa and Southwest Asia, in general, is infertile. Much of it is either rocky or just too arid. The areas of fertility center around the major rivers of the Middle East, such as the Nile River or Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. These rivers dump particulates from the streambeds called silt along the riverbanks which are very fertile and help stimulate agriculture in those areas. Additionally, in some areas of the Levant, Iran, Anatolia, and northwest Africa, there are hills and mountains which capture water coming over the Middle East and allow for some grasses and trees to grow, but the soil is generally less productive than in other regions of the world.
