the quartering act was a law that said colonists had to give food, beds, and a home for the soldiers stationed there. the colonists thought that was unfair and when they saw them they were reminded that Britain was trying to bully them.

Colonists who opposed Britain and wanted freedom were patriots. Colonists who were loyal to Britain were loyalists or Tories. Most of the colonists wanted or didn't want freedom, so there really was no need to a name.

Britain imposed taxes on the colonists because it was a way to get back at them for disobeying. They (Britain) wanted to stay in control by scamming their people of out their money. Kinda harsh, huh?
