He most certainly did not, he rather discovered it and made the light bulb, but never patented it. This was done by him flying a kite in a thunderstorm with a key attached to it to get the electricity to the key. I am not sure why or how this helped him figure out electricity though. Thomas Edison took his credit for the light bulb. He did however successfully make the fire station.

Here is a little more info on what Benjamin Franklin invented: Ben Franklin invented the lightning rod, the glass armonica (a glass instrument not to be confused with a metal harmonica), the Franklin stove, bifocals, and the flexible urinary catheter. I believe he also created Braille. As for the statement above, he did invent the light bulb, but that didn't have anything to do with his flying kite experiment. I think that it was just an experiment to see if lightning was electricity (which it is). (Please correct me if I am wrong on anything, thanks!)

He did not create Braille. That was Louise Braille.
