Italy created a war with Somalia in eastern Africa early in 1935. They had fought a war with them in 1870s and lost. Mussolini saw this as an opportunity to get retribution and gain more colonies in Africa. This war lead to conflicts with British colonies in North Africa which lead to the North African campaign.

Japan became very aggressive against its neighbors and began invading countries around them in the mid 1930's. They invaded China and threatened many of the islands the US aquired as territories during the Spanish-American War.

Germany did not invade any country but used threats and political moves to take control of land between France and Germany and the country of Austria and Czeckoslavakia. It wasn't until September 1939, when Germany and Russia initiated an all-out war. The USSR took over the eastern part of Poland as Germany invaded the western half.
