In Europe, they got freed after the cold war. Most of them decided to join the European Union after that, witch is the best hope for governmental peace, people's involvement in political affairs, and improvement of economical prosperity.

Sure, the EU is not all mighty and perfect, but now the citizens of the Europe can now speak with one powerful united voice in the world's affairs.

In Asia they gained independence. Most of them became Democracies, but at least they all respect human's rights. The only-one that kept communism and continued to repressed its people is North Korea. The people are completely brainwashed over there.

In the Middle East, they gained independence. They all turned into dictatorships, until 2011 where massive uprising overthrew their dictators. Now, only a few dictatorships remains. They all said they would change for Democracy, but the best candidates they elect all turn out to be for an Islamic government.
