Three Kings Day is celebrated on January 6th in many Hispanic countries, although the customs in each country vary somewhat.

January 6th is The Epiphany for Roman and Orthodox Catholics and Three Kings Day is based on the Biblical story about the Three Wise Men who came to see Jesus, bearing gifts for Him.

Even though this day is a day of religious observance, a little fun has been thrown in for the kids in many Hispanic countries, such as Argentina, Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay. Children polish their shoes and fill them with grass, then leave them outside their door. The grass is for the camels of the Three Kings. In the morning, the children will find the grass gone and their shoes filled with small gifts.

A traditional sweet bread called rosca de Reyes is also eaten.
