Hiroshima is a Japanese city. On 6th August 1945 the Allies dropped the first atomic bomb on the city, causing many immediate deaths and wide-ranging destruction to property, as well as the lasting effects of radiation. Three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and the Japanese surrendered, bringing WW2 to an end.
