According to Wikipedia: "Scud is a series of tactical ballistic missiles developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War and exported widely to other countries. The term comes from the NATO reporting name SS-1 Scud which was attached to the missile by Western intelligence agencies. The Russian names for the missile are the R-11 (the first version), R-17 and R-300 Elbrus (later developments). The name Scud has been widely used to refer to these missiles and the wide variety of derivative variants developed in other countries based on the Soviet design." Here is the link to the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scud "The Scud-B, deployed on a mobile launcher, was the version most commonly used by the Iraqi army in the Gulf War 1991. It is a relatively inaccurate weapon due to its primitive guidance system." Link to this source: http://encyclopedia.farlex.com/Scud+missile
A scud is a herbivore because it only eats plants. Scuds are tiny crustaceans, that are close relatives of crayfish and water fleas.
During the Gulf War, Iraq launched Scud missiles into Israel. The Gulf War took place from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991.
The Alberta-born CNN reporter who became known as the "stud scud" during the Persian Gulf War was Peter Arnett. He earned this nickname for his reporting on the scud missile attacks launched by Iraq during the conflict.
Answer 1The figures seem to indicate that 50 Scuds were fired at Israel. Patriot missiles engaged 47 of them, and 45 of those were intercepted. That means that two got through, plus the three that were not engaged for various reason for a total of five actual hits on Israel.Answer 2158 patriots were launched at Saudi Arabia and Israel.... It is currently thought that no Patriots intercepted any Scud...The success of the Patriot missile defence system was greatly exaggerated. G W bush senior was aware of this and blatantly lied to the U.S public and the world in general.... For more information see below.
Well, what you and I need to know first and foremost is that modern missiles such as Sparrow and Patriot MIM use ARH(Active radar homing). With ARH, a missile such as a Patriot (MIM-104) can and does detect radar bouncing off of its target(an Iraqi Scud-B missile in this case).Note that a missile that uses ARH is equipped with a radar transmitter to emit radar pulses to "illuminate" the target, a radar detector(reciever) to pick-up/detect radar pulses reflected off the target, some guidance control(could be inertial, optical, e.t.c) to guide the missile to its target, and an onboard computer and some logic to process signals. In other words picture this: a Scud is in air,and as we all know, emits waves: EM waves,in particular IR waves. So a ground-based radar station would mount equipment to detect missiles in air(could mount a radar dish, such as the big ones you see in movies) . How a radar detector works, ...read more!!.Thus, the ground-based station illuminates the target(Scud) with radar signals, abd some of those signals are reflected off the target back to the ground-based radar station, these signals are processed to acquired flight information(coordinates of target, trajectory, speed, direction,...). Then this information about the target is "fed" or programmed into the Patriot missile for initial flight phase.OK, with that information loaded inside it, the patriot is launched. After launching the Patriot, the ground-based radar station is USELESS...i.e. it is NOT needed for the rest of the missile's flight, hence the name Active Radar Homing, as opposed to SARH. Using the pre-programmed information loaded inside it, in addition to its on-board ARH system, the Patriot will locate its target. How? Radar beams are emitted off the missile's on-board radar emitter towards the target, and some of those waves are reflected off the target(scud), back to the patriot for processing(error correction, trajectory change, distance, speed). This process continues until the patriot "realises" the target(scud) is closer enough. At that stage the patriot will lock on to the target, and upon impact, detonate the high explosive devise, and what??? BOOOOM :) the target is destroyed......as well as the patriot too(the saddest part).==>contrast this guidance method with the Track-Via-Missile method.

Scud Mountain Boys ended in 1997.
Scud Mountain Boys was created in 1991.
Harry 'Scud' East was created in 1857.

The military symbol for the SCUD missile is a red square with a white circle in the center.
Yes
There was "Slinky Dog" or "Slink", of course, and there was the neighbor's dog, "Scud".

The phrase "SCUD" in reference to unattractive women, was coined by Wayne of the recurring Wayne's World sketch on Saturday Night Live. In the sketch, Wayne was made a joke about the name of Iraqi SCUD missiles sounding like a term for women who appear to be attractive at a distance, but upon closer inspection, are realized to be "[Like a] SCUD!"
