Marco Polo did not name any countries. He was hardly the first or only explorer to visit the lands that he did.

Marco Polo lived in medieval times, and in those times countries as we now know them did not exist.

He visited the Middle East, Central Asia, china, and then travelled back along the coast of china, south east Asia and India. At that time the mongols had conquered huge parts of Asia and china. Marco Polo visited the mongol courts. He stayed longest a the court of Kublai Khan in china. He described his travels in the book that made him famous.

But i would like to note that while Marco Polo is the most famous of the medieval travellers, he was not the only one.
