Christians pray forforgiveness they might have had a bad start in life because they may not have followed Gods 10 commandments but now they want to change so they ask God for furtiveness of their past.
To learn more about God, people might not know about God and want to learn more. One way to do this is to go on a pilgrimage because there is so much going on that you cant go away having not learned anything.
To show their love for God. People might want to thank God for something, maybe he has done a miracle in their family or has helped them through a hard time or maybe they just want to show him how much they appreciate him always being there for them.
Some might be sick or ill and want help getting better, they might have got an illness that is incurable and want to ask God to help but people might also just want help through hard times.
A pilgrimage is a great place to go if you want any of these things, so if ever you get the chance then you should take it.
A good pilgrimage to go to is Lourdes which was when a girl called Bernadette saw visions of Mary.
You also do not have to be catholic to go on pilgrimages as some people think. you can be whatever religion you like!!!!!
P.S -
Fearing that Catholics might lose their rights, Lord Baltimore got the assembly to pass the Act of Toleration in 1649. It welcomed all Christians and gave adult male Christians the right to vote and hold office.
pope urban called on the christians from all over Europe to retake the holy land from the Muslim Turks
their feet really hurt... lol Seriously: If it is a religious pilgrimage, say to Mecca or World Youth Day or Lordes, while the person(s) travel and then are in their final destination I believe there is a transformation of the soul/spirit/inner character, whatever you want to call it. For me, I made the 2005 World Youth Day Pilgrimage to Colonge, Germany to hear the Pope speak and to visit the shrine of the Three Kings (The Wise Men). While on my way, I visited Assissi (walking the places of St. Francis, St. Clare; and MANY churches), Rome (visited the colliseum, made my way up the Holy Stairs, many churches), Vatican City (had mass in the Vatican) and did more things than I could list. The point of it all was that it changed my perspectives, my outward actions, my inward emotions, my soul: for the better. The whole experience calls you to CHANGE. To change however you're called to be changed. If you're Christian, going on a pilgrimage will change you more into the person God is calling you to be and brings you closer to Him. That's how a pilgrimage changes a person.
they were prosecuted because the Romans thought the Christians were strange and were and embarrassment to Rome and didn't want there religion to be a part of Rome.
because the king of a country might want soldiers to fight for their country
Well it all depends on what religion or beliefs of the people you are talking about but i will name several places. If you are Muslim you must take a pilgrimage to Mecca unless your ar physically or financially unable. Some Christians might believe in taking a pilgrimage to Nazareth and places connected with Jesus. Some communists might of believed in making a pilgrimage to the site where Lenin's body is in good condition with no decay. If you want more info just tell me
A Christian can go on a pilgrimage (to the Holy Land, I presume?) whenever they want. It depends on how deeply they hold their Christian beliefs. Most Christians never go on a pilgrimage. Others may combine visiting Christian holy sites as part of a holiday.
Because Catholics are Christians and Christ was a Jew. Christians believe he is the Jewish messiah. Christ died and was resurrected in the city. It is therefore a holy Christian site, worthy of pilgrimage.

Because of love and faith one is compelled to go on a pilgrimage.
Christians believe in a good afterlife because it's described in the scriptures they believe in. Most Christians believe in the Bible--you might want to start there. If you want more, you can also try the Book of Mormon, which the Latter-Day Saints and a few others believe is another testament of Christ.
Mecca
Christians and other people who celebrate the Christmas holiday might want to look up pictures of Christmas decorations. Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December every year.
Christians want to get married in a church because they want to feel the unity between God and themselves.
To get married? Christians aren't a whole new breed of human. Obviously, if you love someone, you might get married. Plus, there is the sacrament of matrimony (known as marriage).
they want to get closer to God. a pilgrimage helps people concentrate on god morer than anything else. it also helps them remember all the religious thing that has happened in their life.
Well, honey, Christians might want to build safer buildings to protect their community from harm and to show love and compassion for their neighbors. Plus, it's just common sense to want to keep people safe and secure, don't you think?
