Christians pray forforgiveness they might have had a bad start in life because they may not have followed Gods 10 commandments but now they want to change so they ask God for furtiveness of their past.
To learn more about God, people might not know about God and want to learn more. One way to do this is to go on a pilgrimage because there is so much going on that you cant go away having not learned anything.
To show their love for God. People might want to thank God for something, maybe he has done a miracle in their family or has helped them through a hard time or maybe they just want to show him how much they appreciate him always being there for them.
Some might be sick or ill and want help getting better, they might have got an illness that is incurable and want to ask God to help but people might also just want help through hard times.
A pilgrimage is a great place to go if you want any of these things, so if ever you get the chance then you should take it.
A good pilgrimage to go to is Lourdes which was when a girl called Bernadette saw visions of Mary.
You also do not have to be catholic to go on pilgrimages as some people think. you can be whatever religion you like!!!!!
P.S -
seljuk Turks
To force Muslims from holy sites
they fought dat they was da bad peeps init! Since the time of Constantine, Christians had gone on pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Even though Moslems had ruled Jerusalem since 638, Christians were still allowed to visit the city. By the 11th century, however, the situation had changed. Just as the number and frequency of pilgrimages to Jerusalem was at new peaks, the Seljuk Turks took over control of Jerusalem and prevented pilgrimages.
Jesus Christ was born there. The Bible says that Jesus (God's Son) became a man to be born of a virgin and eventually, die for the sins of the world. His birth took place in a stable, in Bethlehem. (See the first 4 books of the New Testament) It's like wanting to see where the plot of your favorite non-fiction story played out. Also, Christians don't go on "pilgrimages". Pilgrimages are a Muslim tradition. Muslims are required to take Pilgrimages throughout their lifetime. Christians take trips to biblically historical places by choice.
Pilgrimages were long trips taken for religious purposes, often to sites that hold significance in a particular religion. Pilgrimages allow individuals to deepen their faith, seek spiritual growth, and connect with a higher power. Examples of famous pilgrimage sites include Mecca for Muslims, Jerusalem for Christians, and Varanasi for Hindus.
Jerusalem. This is the same place Jews and Muslims go as all 3 religions see this city as their "Holy City"
Fellowship with Christians, more mature Christians can guide new Christians in a good direction, people can make friends with Christians who are into wholesome activities.
They probably have a spectrum of feelings beginning with happiness and fulfillment. It is an individual determination.
The life of the people on the pilgrimages can be defined as religious. People went on the pilgrimages in order to pray.
I could give you a figure, but yes a high number do. Hundreds of thousands of Christians travel to the Holy Land every year on pilgrimages. Many of them return year after year to visit the many Christian holy sites.
Some Christians do, but mostly out of interest in seeing the areas where events recorded in the Bible occurred. Pilgrimages are not required. Worshipping God can be done anywhere.
People still go on pilgrimages, such as Hindus and the Muslims.
