What steps did the US take to avoid war with Iraq?

The US took no steps to avoid war with Iraq. All US steps were taken expressly in order to start war with Iraq. Along with enriching the rich, impoverishing the poor, and dismantling the regulation that protects Americans from unscrupulous business practices, starting the war in Iraq was just about all the Bush Administration had in mind.

However one sided this response seems to be, it is strangely accurate. There were measures taken to try to avoid the war, but by and large they were not by the United States. First, we expected, at the request of the United Nations, to be able to interact and inspect their weapons, to ensure that there was no unneeded growth in their chemical weapons arsenal. The United Nations was allowed to, and found that US claims of the presence of Weapons of Mass Destruction were unfounded. The United States was not satisfied with this answer, and claimed that the United Ntions was being duped. There were photographs of 'the weapons' leaving the facilities before the inspector arrived, but oddly enough, in the time that the united states army has been there, none of these 'hidden weapons' have been uncovered. The truth is that few if any measures were taken to prevent the war. It has its justifications, like deposing their leadership, but the initial reasons were never proven to be true.
