On morning of April 17, 1775 the Battle of Lexington happened. Reports from the time make it sound early in the morning because they write about the men waiting on the green as the sun is coming up. The Battle at Concord was later in the afternoon and seems to have taken place about 2 or 3 PM.
We should remember it as the start of the Revolution. It should be remembered as the first battle that was in the Revolution and the colonists won. Remember, at that time, England was the world power!

The revolutionary war started April 18, 1775 because of the battles at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts1775-17838 years
No, he was not. The war didn't start until a year after Lexington and Concord, and these two events were more a skirmish than a battle. When the British troops arrived in Lexington they met 77 men from the town on the green. The men were facing strongest most powerful army of the time and they were not trained soldiers . Someone fired a shot and before the troops moved on some of the colonist were dead and houses had been set on fire. The British moved on down the road to Concord, and the word spread about the event in Lexington . The two groups met again at the Bridge of Concord where a few shots were fired, but going back to Boston was not easy for the British. The colonist fired at them from behind trees and fences all the way. Washington will not take over as commander of the army until 1776.
Shay's rebellion was during the time the States were under the Articles of Confederation the Federal Government was not existent until the Constitution.
The Battles of Lexington and Concord began the open fighting on April 19, 1775. At Lexington, the British shot and disarmed US militiamen, and then marched on Concord, where (later in the day) they were fired on by a larger force of colonists and forced to withdraw to Boston.

They were actually marching to Concord, but Lexington was on the way. They wanted to get from Boston to Concord MA to seize the ammunition stored there, so the colonial militia wouldn't use it against the British. In that time, there were really only a few routes from Boston to Concord because everything was forest or farmland. The route ran through Lexington, and the militia there were alerted to the British approach, so they came out to delay the British from getting to Concord. This delay, which became the "Shot Heard Round the World" when a skirmish broke out, gave the Concord militia enough time to remove a lot of ammunition and gave revolutionary leaders time to escape capture. The "battle" on Lexington Green was the first actual battle of the American Revolution.

Well, among others- the term is from Emmerson's "Concord Hymn"-relating to the start of armed combat in the American Revolutionary War. The first shots were actually fired in Lexington Mass, but soon after the first fire under orders took place at Concord, Mass. There has been a long term disagreement between Lexington and Concord over this. Please note that Emmerson , at the time the poem was written, lived about 300 ft. from the bridge in Concord that was the site of battle, so he may have been prejudiced towards his home town.
There was no general at that time. It was a loose collection of colonial men who had gathered.
No, Breed's Hill is in metropolitan Boston today. At the time of the Battle of Bunker Hill Boston was small enough that it was all on a peninsula sticking out into the harbor. There's been a lot of filling in of the old shoreline since then. Charlestown was another town across the harbor from Boston, on the mainland. Bunker hill and Breed's Hill were hills just in back of Charlestown, visible from Boston. Lexington and Concord are other towns inland from Boston, Lexington about twenty miles and Concord a few miles more.

Massachusetts which at the time was properly called the Province of Massachusetts Bay.
