Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy around 1451. Little is known about his early life, but it is believed that he came from a middle-class family and received some education in navigation and geography. He began his seafaring career at a young age, eventually gaining experience sailing in the Mediterranean and possibly the Atlantic before his famous voyages to the Americas.

hard cause having to go sailing for a long time
Christopher Columbus received a small amount of education when he went to a Monastery until age fourteen. He learned the basics, Latin and Mathematics. During his early sea life, before his voyages to 'India,' he learned astrology and geography. He was a teen during these years. He also learned map making from his younger brother, Bartolomeo, when he went to visit him in Lisbon. Most of his education came to him in his teen years on the sea.

Just like any other proper noun. I recommend doing something like 'Christopher Columbus... [something he did]... [year he did it].'
