Davy Crockett's first rifle, which is now kept in in the East Tennessee Museum and is owned by Mr. Joe Swan of Maryville Tennessee. He has allowed the Caywood Gunmakers of Tennessee to reproduce 100 copies of this gun. It is the only rifle that Crockett mentions. He carried it everywhere and won many shooting contests with it. He reluctantly sold the gun to get enough money to buy a horse, marry Polly Finley, and begin farming. Before leaving for Texas many years later, he mentions the rifle again as one of his fondest memories. I am sure that this rifle was his favorite. JBH
