why did japan invade Manchuria in china?
.manchuria had natural resorces and raw materials such as coal and iron that japn wanted for its industries
.china was weak as it was in the middle of a civil war
.Japan owned the manchuria railway
what happend?
.31st september 1931 there was an explosion at mukden on the japanise owned south manchurian railway.
.japan accused chian of the exploion. shortly leading onto the japanise invasion of manchuria
.febuary 1932 japan sets up a puppet goverment lead by Pu Yi to control the area and situation.
.china asks the league for help but japan claim manchuria a japanise sphere of influence.
leagues response
.the league had to be careful as japan was a permenent member of the league and a powerful on too.
. the league tells japan to withdraw from china, but japan ignores the leagues warning and continue to attack manchuria.
.the league set up the lytton commission-after 6 months (lytonn went to manchuria by sea to write a report of the situation on manchuria. lytton sugessted that the league was in no hurry to confront japan for she was a key trading partner to briain and other countries in the league)
. lytton reports japan should withdraw and return manchuria to china
consequences
. japan ignores the report and leaves the league in march 1933
.japan invades chian showing the weakness of the league to prevent an agressive country
.economic sanctions shown to be useless as japans trading partner was the usa for they werent in the league. and they were the most powerful country in the world at the time
. military sanctions not used as no army was prepared to give up there army and send them to die the other side of the world.

Calling the Chinese cowards is a bit over doing it. China had no industry or money basically to fight in any kind of war. When they where invaded by Japan they didn't act cowardly but actually quite heroicly by holding of the vastly superior and outnumbering Japanese forces and held on all the way too the end of the war.
The Japanese army was doing pretty good in the war until they attacked Pearl harbour . You see 80% of the oil that Japan was using was from the USA so the Japanese tried to be self sufficient by taking over islands that had some oil but with the Americans helping China that was very difficult. After Pearl Harbor the US deployed troops in both fronts .The Japanese lost because they were just overwhelmed by the Americans
working in factories.
by doing them hard
In 1930 there were a number of totalitarian nations in the world. The most prominent were : A. The Soviet Union. In 1930, the Soviet dictator, Stalin was conducting purges of other communists that he believed were a danger to his regime; B. Imperial Japan was planning the invasion of China. This war against China would begin in 1931; and C. The fascist government of Mussolini in Italy, was planning its expansion in the Mediterranean Sea. The goal was to reestablish what was once part of the ancient Roman empire.
Yes, technically it was. Japan allied with Britain in 1902, and when World War I broke out in 1914, Japan offered to join the war if they could keep the German colonies in the Pacific and China. Japan subsequently captured those German colonies. Interestingly, Japan and the US were already having diplomatic issues regarding China (Japan wanted to conquer parts of it, and actually already had taken Taiwan), so when the US joined the war in 1917, the two countries had to come to an agreement to not use the war to force new concessions on China (which Japan wound up doing anyway).
Britain & Russia (USSR) were fighting Germany; China was fighting Japan.
In 1937, Japan declared war on China. Fighting continued until China officially declared war in 1941, and in doing so, also declared war on the WWII Axis. The war ended when Japan surrendered to the Allies in 1945.
The Great Leap Forward. I am doing the same OdysseyWare.
Japan had invaded China and was trying to conquer it. It had also occupied French Indochina as way to cut off western supplies to China & prepare for an invasion of the Dutch East Indies & British territories in southern Asia. Japan was also preparing to invade the Philippines, Guam & Wake Island.
There was little or nothing they could do.
Was machst Du in Japan translates as What do you do in Japan?orWhat are you doing in Japan?
There are many differences between China's language and culture and Japan's language and culture. So it is hardly surprising that Buddhist practices in the two cultures are slightly different. Zen Buddhism originated in China when Buddhist practices from India were blended with Daoist practices. Eventually difference schools of Zen Buddhism emerged in China and then found their way to Korea and Japan. It's not that the practices themselves are very different, but they are practiced slightly differently in China than they are in Japan. For example, practicing zazen in China is less rigid and formal than it is in Japan. On the other hand, these differences are relatively minor. At first, monks from Japan traveled to China to learn from Chinese masters and then returned to Japan with what they had learned. So anyone familiar with doing zazen in Japan could quickly adopt to doing zazen in China and vice-versa. With respect to beliefs, there are no differences. Since there is no Buddhist creed, there are no doctrinal differences between Japanese Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism. There are, of course, slightly different ideas about practicing, but, as noted, there are even different schools of Buddhism in China. Most of the differences beyond that are very minor. .
Roosevelt merely refused to recognize Japanese control of Manchuria. While Roosevelt did not like what Japan was doing, Roosevelt did nothing and the US later adopted a policy of neutrality.
