It broke into many different countries - All the Stans, the eastern European countries (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, etc), and RUSSIA. Micky Gorby was a boy who didn't want war and wasn't as power-grabbing as other Soviet premiers like Khruschev or Stalin, so he let it break. After the Soviet Union fell, Russia and all the former countries had their own democratic governments and that was pretty much the end of it...
