Peregrine White was born while the Mayflower was anchored in the harbor at Cape Cod. He was the first child born to the Pilgrims in America. Later in life, he became an important person in the Plymouth Colony.

I have never read of any damage on the Mayflower. It did get blown off course and that is how they ended up in Plymouth and some months later it did return to England with Capt and crew. I know the Pilgrims lived on the Mayflower while they looked for a place to settle and while they were building the colony.
