What was the reason the Korean War started?

Korea was occupied by Japan till the end of WW II. Towards the end of war Soviet Union occupied Northern part of Korea and USA occupied Southern part. The territorial dispute between USSR and China supported Northern Korea and USA supported South Korea resulted in start of full scale hostilities in 1950.

Truman feared that japan would turn communist because of the Domino theory. Also it was to undermine communism and protect the way of life in America. Finallly Truman realized that the USA was in competition for world domination with the USSR

If there had been no Cold War (no communist verses the free world), there probably would not have been a Korean War. When the allies defeated Japan in WW2, Korea could have been just one liberated country. But the Soviets (Russians) declared war on Japan within days of the Hiroshima Atomic Bombing; thus sharing with the spoils of war. The Soviets (Russians) rushed very quickly into the northern portions of Korea. We had to save as much of the southern portions as possible. The very same thing occurred in Germany; the allies had to rush into West Germany, because the Russians (Soviets) had moved into East Germany; soon to have the "Berlin Wall."

At the time of the Korean War, the focus was not so much on economics as it was on ideology. North Korea was a communist nation with strong ties to communist China and to the Stalinist Soviet Union. The United Nations saw the invasion of South Korea by North Korea as an unlawful war that had to end. The US sent thousands of troops there and many UN members also sent troops. Australia as one example, helped immensely in the war. It's close proximity to China and North Korea were real threats to the Aussies.
