Did more for Civil Rights than any other President, passing laws to give Black Americans equality in education, voting, housing, public places. His "Great Society" programs fought poverty, aided education, loosened restrictions on Immigration, raised environmental awareness, improved healthcare by establishing Medicare and Medicaid and introduced gun control laws to prevent a repeat of the JFK Assassination. He also increased US involvement in the Vietnam War, but it was the war spiralling out of control that proved to be his downfall.
