5. The invasion (incursion) of Cambodia in '70 set the stage for US withdrawal.
6. The invasion of Laos in '71 put doubt in the allied high command on whether or not the RVN could hold their own if the US withdrew.
7. Operation Linebacker/Linebacker II nearly put Hanoi on their knees (and the SAC B52 force), which paved the way for bringing Hanoi back to the negotiation table to allow US forces to withdraw.
