The Afghan Emperor Sher Shah Suri defeated Humayun in two battles. The first battle was fought at Chausa on Jun 26, 1539. Followed by his defeat Humayun fled to Agra. On 17 May, 1540, Sher Shah again defeated Humayun in the battle of Kannauj. Thus Humayun had to go for an exile.
