Humayun was the eldest son Babur, the founder of Mughal dynasty of India. After the death of Babur in 1530, Humayun succeeded him. However, Sher Shah Suri defeated him and drove him out of India. In 1555, Humayun returned to India and the Mughal Empire was restored after defeating the Suri Kings.

Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty of India, was the ruler of Fergana in Uzbekistan. After defeating the Delhi Sultan Ibrahim Lodi, he stayed in India and laid foundations of a new empire in 1526. Babur's son Humayun, the second Mughal Emperor, was defeated by the Afghan King Sher Shah Suri and he had to leave India. However, after defeating Sher Shah's successor, he returned to India and re-established the Mughal Empire. After the death of Humayun, the Hindu King Hemu occupied the throne of India for a short time. Hemu was defeated in the 2nd battle of Panipat in 1556 by the Mughal army of Akbar. The Mughal Empire was re-established under Akbar the Great, which lasted until 1857.

Sher shah finally gained powers and attacked Humayun and defeated him and made him homeless. Humayun escaped to Persia . After Sher Shah Die in a gun explosion Humayun recaptured the mughal territories in India . while he was in Persia he wandered as a nomad and finally got help from the Persian king to recapture his places

In 1540, Humayun was defeated in the battle of Kannauj by Sher Shah Suri. After his victory Sher Shah Suri established the Suri dynasty in India. Humayun had to leave India. After wandering through the deserts of Sind and Rajputana, he finally took refugee under Shah Tahmasp of Persia in 1544.
