Queen Victoria ascended the throne on June 20, 1837, following the death of her uncle, King William IV. She was only 18 years old at the time and became the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Her reign lasted for 63 years, making her one of the longest-serving monarchs in British history.
