The Japanese (fellow Axis fascist) had been asked to take over power by the French Vichy government in 1940. Ho Chi Minh was the good guy in Vietnamese independence until the US decided to support the French Vichy colonialists and the Japanese to keep their foothold in Vietnam. What a nightmare....
