The Unites States of America became involved in World War 2 when the Prime Minister of England, Winston Churchill, notified President Roosevelt about the gravity of their need for food, medicines, war armament and supplies and that he wanted the USA to join England in fighting against the Nazi Germans.

The American populace was against the US going to Europe to fight their war again after the disaster of World War 1. However, the US did assist with the things the UK needed. Then on December 7, 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The Japanese had done very murderous acts against the Chinese and other people groups because they wanted to get raw materials from the areas they invaded. They intended to take over many areas of the Dutch East Indies, Singapore and many other places because they wanted OIL.

The main island of Japan does not have OIL or other raw materials. So the Japanese had been dependent on getting their OIL from the US. The US placed and oil embargo against Japan. Therefore the Japanese became more desperate to obtain oil. They thought they should PREVENT the US NAVY from coming after them when they went after other countries' oil resources and lands. So they bombed the Naval Installations in Pearl Harbor without declaring war. The worst part was that Japan had sent men to negotiate with the President about lifting the oil embargo. While they were negotiating the bombing took place. This was a huge error on the part of the Japanese Empire. The next day the US declared war on Japan and days later Hitler declared war on the US. That is how the US became involved in the war on two fronts; The European Theater of Operations and the Pacific Theater of Operations.
