There have been several ice ages in the past; the most recent true major ice age started in the Pleistocene epoch 1.6 million years ago. However, it also depends upon one's definition of "ice age". Scientists cannot seem to agree on the answer to this. A mini-ice age is believed to have occurred during the late middle ages, as conditions were clearly colder then than now, with temperatures dropping to sub-zero in many placed across Europe. Ths was during the reign of Queen Victoria, when the River Thames froze over and they had fairs, stalls, and bonfires on the ice. From another contributor: Some scientists would say we haven't even come out of an ice age; global warming is nothing compared to what heating periods the world has been through, and there is evidence that there were plants on the north pole. There was only a glacial period that ended 12,000 years ago, according to some estimates.
The LAST ice age ended 12,000 years ago.

The ice age is still with us, that is why one sixth of the Earth is covered in ice. It started about 2.6 million years ago and we are living in a warm period known as an "interglacial". The last glaciation ended between 10,000 and 12,000 years ago depending on which part of the world you live.
The last ice age was in 10,000 years ago and we are still in it
The Last Gracial Episode occurred 100000 to 10000 years ago.
Icy & cold. the last ice age was horrific of course where the snow started to melt it caused avalanches killing animals that survieved maybe even wiping out the last of species. by laura2790
wooly mammoths, serbian tigers, and more.
Not since the last Ice Age. Yes in 1693.

The last ice age ended 100 000 years ago.
No. The last ice age was triggered by fluctuations in Earth's orbit.
The last ice age, known as the Great Ice Age or the Pleistocene Epoch, lasted from about 2.6 million years ago to around 11,700 years ago. So, it has been approximately 11,700 years since the last ice age ended.
The last glacial period is sometimes colloquially referred to as the 'last ice age'. But the use of 'ice age' is incorrect. Glacials, on the other hand, refer to colder phases within an ice age that separate interglacials. The end of the last glacial period is not the end of the last ice age. The end of the last glacial period was about 10,500 BCE, while the end of the last ice age has not yet come.
The Great Lakes were created by glaciers in the last ice age.

Many geologists consider what you call the "last ice age" to be the last glacial of the present Ice Age, with the ice retreat starting only about 10-12ka. There was no mass extinction. A good many species did migrate or disappear altogther as the ice retreated, but in no way was it a mass extinction.
During the last ice age, much of North America was covered in thick sheets of ice.
The last ice age, known as the Last Glacial Maximum, occurred approximately 20,000 years ago and lasted until around 11,700 years ago. This period was characterized by colder temperatures and extensive ice sheets covering much of the northern hemisphere.
Ice ages last for some tens of millions of years with intervals of about 150 million years between them. The term is used more loosely to identify the last time that ice sheets covered much of Europe and North America.I think the ice age lasted until it melted!the iceage took about 100.000 years.

The Ice Age Trail is in Wisconsin, where many signs of the terminal moraine of the last ice age are clearly visible in the landscape.
