Singapore as a British possession, was in WW2 starting in September 1939, when the Germans started the war in Europe. However, the war did not come to Singapore until December 1941 when the Japanese began their war against Britain, Netherlands, and the United States in the Pacific & Asia.

Singapore was attacked for the first time by Japanese Naval bombers at about 4:30am on December 8, 1941 (local time), which is about 2 ½ hours after the Japanese started their attack on the United States at Hawaii (Pearl Harbor). This was 3 ½ hours after the Japanese began their invasion at Kota Bharu in British Malaya. This invasion force then traveled down the Malayan peninsula to seize Singapore by February 15, 1942.
