Dissolution of the Monasteries happened between 1536 and 1541 by which Henry shut down all the Monasteries in England, Wales and Ireland. He did this because he wanted a divorce. If he stayed loyal to the Pope and church he wouldn't have been able to get the Divorce because the Pope refused, so he broke away from the Church and created The Church Of England. This way he was able to get the divorce, get money and also get power at the same time.
