Sri Lanka continues to be very quiet on the world stage, because of the media hype brought on by the wars fought in Afghanistan and Iraq. The LTTE and the problems that they cause continue to create struggle for the government, and they are not very well heard. They have an impressive involvement with the UN, and judging from their trade partners, their biggest allies are India, US, China, but probably because of necessity, they also hold trade relations with Iran. However with the developments that have taken place since the end of the war which destroyed the LTTE the support once provided by the US is no longer there. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been a real obstacle in Colombo's attempts to secure a $1.9 billion IMF loan. They are also engaged in a diplomatic efforts to gather support for a UNHCR motion rejecting a War Crimes Tribunal against the Sri Lankan government and the Military. In this effort the most notable support for Sri lanka has come from China, India, Pakistan, Bahrain, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nicaragua, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
